It is never easy when a loved one’s health deteriorates. My husband’s uncle was living with us, able to care somewhat for himself. We were unprepared when Uncle Kendall suddenly needed twenty-four-hour care.  Fortunately, the Lenzens were able to provide a space to accommodate our needs, but more importantly, our Uncle’s needs, as we transitioned into uncharted territory.  As his condition progressed, they were prepared to give him the care he needed by providing a safe and accessible home.

 

There are many specific examples of the support given to our Uncle like the individualized aid given from the caregivers, accessible showers provided to preserve his dignity, movie nights (which he loved), and getting fresh air outside.  Beyond any typical safety and health norms, the Lenzens made our Uncle family.  Even though his memory was fading and he couldn’t remember where he was or why he was there, everyone was able to put him at ease by being patient and loving.  We were blessed to have our Uncle get the care he needed and our family is forever grateful for the love and care that the Lenzen’s provided for our Uncle.
